14 January 1937, Guillaume Vanroy sets up shop with a partner at 7, Rue de la Teinturerie in Forest. The Vanroy industry is born... Tools, cutting and fittings are the company’s first activities.
13 October 1943, Guillaume Vanroy splits with his partner and sets out on his own...The premises are relocated to Rue Huywaert, 165 in Molenbeek. He continues the same activities.
15 November 1952, Guillaume Vanroy moves to Avenue de la Verrerie, 23 in Forest and begins to make and sell metal decorative items and manufactures and sells wood, aluminium and steel metres. The oldest article in the current catalogue is made in the greatest quantities...
With polished finials, called "Stoffklammern für Gardienen"... the curtain rod adventure had begun... from creation to creation, the Vanroy workshops developed the manufacturing of metal, wood and other curtain rods.
Jean Vanroy works with his father Guillaume. The Vanroy company grew steadily. The collections grew and new accessories were added.
In 1968, following the death of his father, Jean Vanroy managed the factory with a great deal of know-how. His main priorities were to modernise the company and remain independent. Product quality and hard work were constant. The factory grew, as did Jean Vanroy’s children. After more than 40 years at the head of the business, Jean Vanroy began to turn it over to his children, Carine and Guy Vanroy. They rounded out their studies by holding important positions in the company which continued to grow unabated. Carine quickly moved into management and Guy pursued his interest in manufacturing techniques.
In 1998, Guy became interested in the "fashion" phenomenon in the interior design field. Collections had to evolve in order to provide a representative selection of the family know-how. He decided to work with a design studio. It was a marriage of logic and creativity, of imagination with exacting standards and of fashion with durability. Jean Vanroy is still involved. He pays special attention to maintaining the connection between the family business and its past. He is focused on exceptional quality and product integrity.
Guy Vanroy and his design firm provide a creative impulse that confirms the uniqueness of this industrial, artisanal, traditional and innovative company.
